Rosie the Little Grey Pony Visits BBCH

Our Residents had a delightful visit from Rosie the Little Grey Pony! Rosie, an 11-year-old rescue horse, is a charming Falabella, one of the smallest horse breeds in the world. Originating from Argentina, Falabellas are known for their gentle nature, intelligence, and miniature size—usually standing no taller than a large dog!
Rosie absolutely loves meeting new people, receiving plenty of treats, and being pampered. She arrived in style, wearing her very own Louboutin shoes—costing £200 each—and a bespoke-made bag to catch any accidents! During her visit, Residents enjoyed learning about her history, her favourite snacks, and what makes Falabellas so special. Of course, no visit would be complete without plenty of gentle strokes and a chance to give her beautiful mane a good brush!
Fascinating Falabella Facts
One of the Smallest Horse Breeds – Falabellas typically stand between 28-34 inches (71-86 cm) tall, making them one of the smallest horse breeds in the world.
Not a Pony – Despite their tiny size, Falabellas are true horses, not ponies. They have the same body proportions as larger horse breeds, just in a miniature form.
Argentinian Origins – The breed was developed in Argentina by the Falabella family in the 19th century, selectively breeding small horses for generations to create the perfect miniature horse.
Highly Intelligent and Trainable – Falabellas are known for their intelligence and can be trained just like full-sized horses. Some even learn to pull small carts or perform tricks!
Long Lifespan – These tiny horses often live longer than full-sized horses, with many reaching 30-40 years of age, making them wonderful long-term companions.
"We call Rosie a pony because we didn’t want care homes to be put off by the idea of inviting a horse to visit! "
Zoe House ( Rosie's Owner)

Rosie brought plenty of smiles and joy to everyone she met, proving once again how special animal companionship can be. We can’t wait to see her again!
